Oslo boat tours

We would not be able to say if you think Oslo is worth Visiting, but we believe it is and in recent years, Oslo has transformed and become a more popular city to visit. Its architecture has changed the skyline and the city is modern, clean and with lots of interesting sights. Museums are modernised and the city has embraced the fjord and its nature more than before.

The Oslo fjord is perhaps not as famous as fjords elsewhere in Norway, but it has a lot of history and some interesting sights! For starters, the Oslo Skyline can be admired from the water. There are also small churches in the middle of the fjord as well as lighthouses that have since become mini restaurants. We should also not forget that the Oslo fjord has wildlife both above and below the surface of the water that we can admire.

For the food we serve during our Brunch & Bubbles and Brim x Einer Dinner Cruise we work together with partners. The menu is adjusted to reflect the season of the year and where possible, we serve local and sustainable options.

Brim Explorer is available for private group tours, charters & events in Oslo. Our ships are well equipped for a variety of occasions, besides our regular boat tours on the Oslo fjord. In order to join our tours you need to be able to show your ticket from Brim Explorer or your travel agent. Even though we have warm indoor saloons, we recommend dressing according to the weather forecast. You are allowed to bring your own snacks but there is a café on board that has drinks and food available for purchase.

Yes! Every boat tour that we organise is family-friendly, however, our Silent Oslo Fjord Cruise is particularly well suited for families with young children, as we use our underwater drone and share more information about the Oslo fjord. The brunch and dinner cruise on the Oslo fjord are perhaps less suited for children.

Oslo is filled with countless options for accommodation. From Airbnb to budget hostels, a camping relatively close to the centre and a large number of hotels. Where to stay is up to your preference and budget.

Oslo is located in the south of Norway. The summer in Oslo can be warm with temperatures easily going over 20-25 degrees Celsius. During winter, Oslo can sometimes get as cold as Tromsø in the arctic! This is because it is located more inland and has a colder ‘continental’ climate, rather than a coastal climate. The average is around 0 Celsius degrees in Oslo during the winter. Luckily our boats are designed for arctic winters in Norway and have heated saloons and are spacious with floor-to-ceiling windows that will provide panoramic views from wherever you are seated. In the summer our outside decks are converted into a terrace and you can enjoy the sun and ocean breeze coming from the Oslo Fjord.

Oslo is not a fjord in the geological sense of a fjord. But it is called a fjord, as in Norway the word is used for a more. Which is strange, but the word fjord is Norwegian.

In geological sense, a fjord is a long, elongated valley with [steep] land on three sides and created by a glacier. The open end connects on with the ocean, filling it with salt water.

A fjord is formed when a glacier retreats, carving out and leaving behind a valley that is below sea level. The melting water from the glacier transports and pushes down rocks and residual towards the fjords entrance, making the entrance of the fjord often shallower than the middle of the fjord.

Oslo has a large airport – Gardermoen – with direct connections to all major cities in Europe. It also has quick airport train and local train portions from the airport into the city.

Travelling by airplane however comes with a lot of pollution. The more sustainable way is to take a ferry from Copenhagen or Kiel (Germany) directly to Oslo, or a ferry from Denmark to Larvik and continue by bus or car to Oslo.
